Kaimai Track Closures from Nov 2018

The Dept of Conservation has announced that from Nov 2018 five tracks will have full closure and one partial closure in the Northern Kaimai Mamaku Ranges.

The following tracks have been approved for closure with work to begin in November this year:

• Bluff Stream Kauri to Waitengaue Hut Track
• Bluff Stream Kauri Track
• Cashmore Clearing Track
• Mangakino Stream Track (Dickey Track-County Rd)
• Wairoa Stream Track
• Te Rereatukahia Hut Track (partial closure)

There are quite a number of tracks in the Coromandel Ranges that are closed or partially closed

Tracks have been closed or partially closed where there is:

• High kauri dieback risk
• Low visitor numbers
• High upgrade and maintenance cost
• A similar recreational experience is available in the vicinity.
