Did you know that wanderer incidents as a percentage of CAT 1 land incidents is steady at around 23% each year over the past 7 years (2010/11 to 2017/18) (NZSAR Statistic). These incidents are therefore significant and with the increase of people with dementia and autism in the population there is an increased focus on this area.
Our guest speaker is Tom Slater Occupational therapist and support coordinator for Dementia Waikato. Tom will talk about dementia, how it effects memory & sensory processes (it isn't just forgetting things), reasons or triggers for wandering and how we can approach the lost party.
Lorna will have the Radio Frequency tracking devices and equipment to demonstrate.
