T18300: CIMS2 Online Learning  (22 Aug to 30 Sept)

The CIMS 2 online learning module is hosted by TPP,  for those who wish to gain an understanding of the New Zealand Co-ordinated Incident Management System structure (CIMS).  

US17279 - Demonstrate knowledge of the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS)

Please register for this event to register your interest for the e-learning module.  

Completion of the online learning module should take approximately 6 hours (approximation only)

CIMS 2 is a pre-requisite for CIMS 4 training.

Please note that the date of the training on the calendar is not indicative of the date that you will commence your learning, or receive your material. 

Learning commences when a sufficient number of expressions of interest are registered. Usually 8-10 registrations required.

The course will enable participants to describe:

  • the roles and principles of CIMS 2
  • the functions, structure, and terms used in the CIMS 2 framework
  • basic CIMS documentation
  • The course covers CIMS 2 terminology, the 4Rs, CIMS 2 Principles, Response levels, Incident Management Team functions, concepts of Control and Command and designated CIMS2 Facilities needed at a response.

The course is particularly appropriate for all of those involved in emergency management at a response level, including field team members and leaders.

T18089 Outdoor Risk Management

OUTDOOR RISK MANAGEMENT

This two day course is aimed at Team Leaders, Incident Management Team members, Group Training Officers and anyone responsible for the safety of SAR personnel.

It runs to the following approximate schedule:

Saturday 8:30am – 6pm (approx.)
(A night session may be required Saturday evening)
Sunday 8.30am – 4pm (approx.)

Students are introduced to the LandSAR Safety Management System, risk management theory and practical tools that can be put to practice in the field.

All participants will get the opportunity throughout the course to practice safety while leading a team during outdoor scenarios.This course involves a mixture of classroom learning and practical outdoor exercises.  The exercises will be based on typical SAR tasks, and could involve getting wet and travelling in uneven terrain. Please come prepared for this.
